Both my wife Coralie and I are trained teachers. Coralie has a BSc. My qualifications are in eductaion. After 10 years of dairy farming the last 28 years we've been spent in the soil fertility industry developing products and programmes that are not reliant on regular applications of fertiliser nitrogen. Measures including independent analysis show that these programmes grow significantly more annual pasture than any conventional N reliant system. The programmes also provide a steady increase in pasture production due to ongoing carbon sequestration with production on a monitor property (intensive dairy) regularly exceeding 20 tonne DM/ha anually. Independent measuring shows that Nitrate N losses to groundwater, from the monitor property are 70% less than those from a neighbouring property regularly applying urea. Total farm performance and profitability is superior in every respect. There is a large amount of accumulated measures including VSA's undertaken by Graham Shepherd that can be made available if of interest. There are also long-term sheep and beef clients that are willing to share their experiences and we are always keen to host interested people on the properties of long-term client clients.

My role as an agronomist starts at the grass roots level. Total dry matter production produced per hectare drives the capacity of farmland and is an integral part of the decision making process when it comes to developing farm cropping plans and improving farm performance and profitability. Involvement within this process provides a constructive environment for all members of the farm team to contribute to what is commonly a priority goal, to improve the production potential of individual farms, and by default, lifting the performance of the whole primary industry. In addition, this role allows you be a trouble-shooter, combined with a trusted advisor to get the best results for a particular farmer in a particular set of environmental circumstances, and it is this tailored approach that I believe is integral to achieving client success. Specific research programs include: maximizing hogget breeding performance, lamb survival and growth to weaning, grazing ruminants on alternative feed types, weaned lamb growth, ewe longevity, importance of body condition score and early rearing systems. These research projects are undertaken with the aim of improving on-farm productivity.

Sharl has worked closely with a wide range of seed-stock breeders throughout New Zealand and internationally, commercialising and fostering the adoption of genetic and genomic technology in the sheep and beef sectors. He has a wealth of one-on-one farmer experience and commercial reality, helping farmers understand why and how to use novel on-farm technologies. Julie is a qualified veterinarian but started her career working in the television industry in the USA. She spent 10 years doing sales, marketing and public relations for Time Warner before heading back to school to get a veterinary medical doctorate from the University of Pennsylvania. She spent 3 years with an equine surgical referral practice in Maryland, Pennsylvania and Delaware. Since moving to New Zealand in 2005, she has worked for the Ministry for Primary Industries and is now employed by Greenlea Premier Meats as business development manager. Julie represents Greenlea on the Red Meat Profit Partnership PGP partner advisory committee. Julie works on a range of projects and subject matters at Greenlea including value add, marketing, communications, government relations, industry activities, farm assurance, environmental stewardship and climate change. Julie has also served on the board of the New Zealand Veterinary Association. Jeremy has a varied and practical background in farming, animal health and a more recent environmental interest. He graduated from Massey University in 2000 with degrees in Veterinary science and Agriculture and worked as a veterinarian in the wider Waikato and UK until 2012 when he increased his involvement in the family business. The farm has grown to 800ha and involves calf rearing, intensive beef finishing and a productive sheep flock. With the arrival of Healthy Rivers, Jeremy has completed the advanced Sustainable Nutrient Management course at Massey University and has formed a sub catchment group. I enjoy working on projects that make a difference in the Primary Sector so have spent some time in recent years working with Lincoln Uni to strengthen their impact amongst their constituency [on going]. Through the RMPP Action Network I aim to help out as a connector/ facilitator/ expert in supporting our farming community both inside and outside the farm gate. My role as an agronomist starts at the grass roots level. Total dry matter production produced per hectare drives the capacity of farmland and is an integral part of the decision making process when it comes to developing farm cropping plans and improving farm performance and profitability. Involvement within this process provides a constructive environment for all members of the farm team to contribute to what is commonly a priority goal, to improve the production potential of individual farms, and by default, lifting the performance of the whole primary industry. In addition, this role allows you be a trouble-shooter, combined with a trusted advisor to get the best results for a particular farmer in a particular set of environmental circumstances, and it is this tailored approach that I believe is integral to achieving client success. Each farm and each farmer is different, thus it is one's ability to tailor their technical style which drives large scale outcomes while on farm.

Professor of Sheep Husbandry at Massey University. Specific research programs include: maximizing hogget breeding performance, lamb survival and growth to weaning, grazing ruminants on alternative feed types, weaned lamb growth, ewe longevity, importance of body condition score and early rearing systems. These research projects are undertaken with the aim of improving on-farm productivity.

Sharl has worked closely with a wide range of seed-stock breeders throughout New Zealand and internationally, commercialising and fostering the adoption of genetic and genomic technology in the sheep and beef sectors. He has a wealth of one-on-one farmer experience and commercial reality, helping farmers understand why and how to use novel on-farm technologies. In his consulting role he focuses on the needs of farmers, using data analysis, project management and strategic skills to ensure that technology is understood and used in appropriate ways, maximising a return on investment for farming. Within AbacusBio his focus is on Breeding program review and restructuring; Technology adoption and implementation; Data analysis and database utilisation; Facilitation and project management. My role now takes me all around the country helping farmers with strategic discussions about staff employment, assistance with policies, and support during the difficult times when things aren’t going so well. I help employers find good staff, set them up for success, and provide training and on-going support for farming managers. I am an experienced facilitator with a strong understanding of the real sector.

Julie is a qualified veterinarian but started her career working in the television industry in the USA. She spent 10 years doing sales, marketing and public relations for Time Warner before heading back to school to get a veterinary medical doctorate from the University of Pennsylvania. She spent 3 years with an equine surgical referral practice in Maryland, Pennsylvania and Delaware. Since moving to New Zealand in 2005, she has worked for the Ministry for Primary Industries and is now employed by Greenlea Premier Meats as business development manager. Julie represents Greenlea on the Red Meat Profit Partnership PGP partner advisory committee. Julie works on a range of projects and subject matters at Greenlea including value add, marketing, communications, government relations, industry activities, farm assurance, environmental stewardship and climate change. Julie has also served on the board of the New Zealand Veterinary Association. I grew up in Taumarunui surrounded by dry stock farms before graduating from Massey University with an Agriculture degree in 2004. Since then have had roles with fertilizer companies, pasture seed companies and on farms. In 2013 I became a member by exam of the Australian association of ruminant nutrition and am also a full member of the NZ association of ruminant nutrition. Currently I am employed by PGG Wrightson as a technical specialist in animal nutrition covering the north island.

Both my wife Coralie and I are trained teachers. Coralie has a BSc. My qualifications are in eductaion. After 10 years of dairy farming the last 28 years we've been spent in the soil fertility industry developing products and programmes that are not reliant on regular applications of fertiliser nitrogen. Measures including independent analysis show that these programmes grow significantly more annual pasture than any conventional N reliant system. The programmes also provide a steady increase in pasture production due to ongoing carbon sequestration with production on a monitor property (intensive dairy) regularly exceeding 20 tonne DM/ha anually. Independent measuring shows that Nitrate N losses to groundwater, from the monitor property are 70% less than those from a neighbouring property regularly applying urea. Total farm performance and profitability is superior in every respect. There is a large amount of accumulated measures including VSA's undertaken by Graham Shepherd that can be made available if of interest. There are also long-term sheep and beef clients that are willing to share their experiences and we are always keen to host interested people on the properties of long-term client clients.

Currently completing a PhD at Massey but was previously a rural school principal and was heavily involved in facilitating groups of school principals and teachers. The focus of my PhD revolves around measuring change in farmers' self-efficacy while they participated in an agricultural extension activity (based at Riverside Farm) and the impact it might have on future farm system changes. Teaching in rural areas has given me an understanding of the highs and lows experienced within the farming community. I also have a son currently managing one of the Landcorp Farms, so have had a bit to do with sheep and beef farming over the years.
